Ed Sheeran's 'x' has now sold over ten million units globally.

The singer only released the album in 2014.

However, the Brit confirmed on Sunday (August 30) that it has now shifted over ten million copies worldwide.

The figure reveals that over four million of the sales came through physical albums.

In contrast, just over two million sales were from digital records.

Stream equivalent album (SEA) sales have made for over one million units being sold.

The figure also includes track equivalent album (TEA) sales, which equates ten songs to one record.

Posting the breakdown of numbers online, Sheeran added:

"Multiply hit 10 million sales this week. F*ck yeah."
