MTV EMA co-host Ed Sheeran is 'one of the most realest people'

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has been confirmed as the host of this year's MTV EMAs.

Sheeran has been praised by music entrepreneur Jamal Edwards as being one of the most genuine people in the industry:

"He is one of the most realest people. For example, like when I was speaking to him not so long ago and we were in a club and he was in the same club as the guy from 'Gangnam Style'. He was like, 'Yeah, this is sick!' So, as much as what's going on in his world, he's still excited by the people he gets to mingle with [...] I speak with Ed every now and again to catch up with him. He's smashing it."

The 'Thinking Out Loud' sensation announced his involvment with the MTV EMAs by sharing a photograph of himself via Instagram and accompanied it with the following caption: "So happy to say I’m hosting the #MTVEMAs on 25th October! Cannot wait."

The ceremony will be held on October 25 at Milan’s Mediolanum Forum and Sheeran's co-host will be 'Orange Is The New Black' actress Ruby Rose.

Awards are voted for by members of the public, with voting remaining open until the night before the event on MTV's award show website. Sheeran is up for two gongs, including Best Male and Best Live Act.
