Ed Sheeran plans to headline Glastonbury in the future

Ed Sheeran says he hopes to one day headline the Glastonbury Festival.

The singer-songwriter told the Press Association that he won't be topping the bill at the Worthy Farm event in 2016.

However, he plans to headline the iconic event after releasing one or two more albums.

Sheeran said: "The next festival I do will be headlining Glastonbury, but it just won't be next year.

"I want to be able to have at least three or four albums before I do it.

"There's not going to be an Adele-style break. I'm not having kids, I'm not getting married. But I won't be headlining Glastonbury."

Sheeran released his second album 'x' in 2014.

This summer he affirmed his position as a potential festival headliner by selling out three nights at London's Wembley Stadium.
