Ed Sheeran: "There is no jealousy between British artists"

Ed Sheeran has opened up about the dynamic of this year's BRIT Awards nominees and explained that there's a real sense of closeness between the artists representing the UK.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, the 'Lego House' superstar revealed that all of the British stars know each other and there's a great amount of support and mutual respect between them:

"I've known Jessie for a couple of years. We did a gig together about a year and a half ago, at a place in Brick Lane in east London, to about 50 people. There is no jealousy between British artists. We are all good friends. I lived with Rizzle Kicks for a while and Emeli Sandé supported me. I have history with pretty much everyone nominated."

He also stressed that his success is completely down to the unwavering support of his fan base and added, "the most important thing for an artist to remember is that they are nowhere without their fanbase. Mine are very loyal — they come to every show and they buy every bit of music."

Sheeran is nominated for an impressive 4 BRIT Awards this year and the ceremony is due to take place on February 21. Watch his interview from the BRITs nominations event below:
