Ed Sheeran wins over the U.S. with sold-out gigs

Ed Sheeran, who has made an incredible impact on the UK music scene, looks set to win over America after performing his first sold-out stateside gig last night (January 30).

The star flew over to the U.S. earlier this week and played a show at New York City's Mercury Lounge yesterday, which was full to capacity.

Writing about the performance on his official Twitter page, Sheeran explained:

"Day of promo in New York and then my first sold out US show tonight! I'm looking forward to it."

A few hours later, he added: "What a fun show. New York, I love you!"

He will play another sold-out show at the same venue this evening, January 31, before heading across to Los Angeles where he will rock fans at The Hotel Café on February 2. Sheeran also currently has the UK's No.1 album with '+' so has kicked off 2012 in the best way possible.
