Ed Sheeran wows on The Today Show, celebrates a stateside No.1 album with '+'

Flame-haired hitmaker Ed Sheeran has enjoyed a successful day today (June 12) with an exciting live performance on American television and a No.1 album in the USA under his belt.

Sheeran treated viewers of The Today Show to a stunning rendition of his single 'The A Team' earlier this morning to celebrate the stateside release of his major label debut record, '+'.

Speaking on the programme about how his career has taken off not just in his home country, but all over the world, he explained:

"I mean, it's a good life to have to be honest. I get to travel to beautiful countries, and get to see everything I wouldn't be able to see if I wasn't a musician."

He also opened up about the rise in popularity of British music in the U.S. and added: "I don't think we ever left. We've always been here. We trade acts all the time. They gave us Hendrix and we gave you The Beatles. We get Rihanna and you get Adele."

He tweeted a message to let his fans know that '+' had debuted at the top spot on iTunes in America, writing: "Oh my word!! My album is -#1 on USA iTunes!,!,!! so happy right now."
