Ed Sheeran has thanked P. Diddy for praising his music online.

The superstar rapper took to his Twitter page to gush about the Brit sensation's talent.

Writing to his almost 9 million followers, P. Diddy posted: "Ed sheeran is some other shit! And yall know I don't co sign cats. But this kid makes me cry. Jojo otis reding. No hyp. e! #revolt (sic)."

After seeing his message of support, Sheeran replied, thanking the hip hop star for his words of kindness: "cheers mate :) (sic)."

Fans of the artists were happy to see that P. Diddy was encouraging the British singer-songwriter - who has made a huge impact both in his home country and in the US.

While one Twitter user wrote: " @iamdiddy endorsing @edsheeran, this is a big look!" another excitedly posted: "nice one puff... Diddy puff.... F**k it I'm calling you Sugar Puff!!!! (sic)."

Sheeran attended this year's Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, and although he missed out on a gong, he got to perform alongside legendary singer Sir Elton John.

The pair played a rendition of the singer-songwriter's 'The A Team' for a special duet.

Sheeran took to Twitter on Monday to gush about sharing the stage with one of music's icons: "So much fun playing my song with Sir Elton too, will not forget that!! (sic)."
