Ed Sheeran: "The UK needs a break from me"

Ed Sheeran has admitted that Britain is probably getting fed up of him.

The singer-songwriter has enjoyed a hugely succesful past couple of years in his home country following the release of his debut album '+' in 2011.

He has undergone numerous promotional stints on TV and radio, as well as touring to masses of adoring fans.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Sheeran conceded that the UK could probably benefit from exiling the 'A Team' singer for a little while.

His plan is going to come to fruition, with the talented musician set to relocate to Nashville in the US to record his new album. Sheeran said:

"I think it's important to give the UK public a little bit of a break. I've been here for a long time doing a lot of TV and radio, so you have to go away for a little bit. So I'm going to make the album over there."

When asked how far along he is with the new record, Sheeran replied: "I could be 100% or I could be 20% - it's all down to the songs. I think I've got the songs, but I'll find out when I record them."
