Speaking from the Billboard Music Awards' 'blue carpet' last night (May 19), the 'Lego House' superstar explained that there was a delay because of his current 'Red' tour with Taylor Swift, but progress is being made:

"I turned it in today. It's (due) early next year. It was going to be this year but I don't finish touring till October and then there's no time to get a plan together. I'm going to spend October, November, December planning and then just smash it out next year."

When asked about recording, Sheeran confessed that it will being towards the end of this summer: "All the songs are written. I'm going in to record them in August. The direction will take shape then."

"The songs are good, which is the main thing. I think you can have good songs and then you can put any sort of production behind it but as long as the songs are good."

The 'Lego House' superstar, who is currently touring America in support of Taylor Swift, explained to Britain's The Sun newspaper that he's making foundations outside of his music career as he wants to invest his earnings wisely:

"Kanye West has that line, 'White people make money and don't spend it'. And that's pretty much me. [But] I'm renovating a property where I grew up. This is going to be the family house for when I have kids and stuff."

"I'm planting a lot of trees. Actually, it's a farm I'm turning into a woodland."

Meanwhile, Sheeran recently confessed that he ran up a ridiculous phone bill of around £5,000 when he first arrived in America so is now being more careful about his mobile use to avoid another excessive charge: "'I used my UK phone over here for about a month and the bill was five grand when I got home. I am not going to use my UK phone anymore and my bill's only about $60 a month now, that's around £40."

'Lego House' chart-topper Sheeran is supporting country songstress Taylor Swift on her 'Red' tour dates in America.

The red-haired star says his phone charges reached a whopping amount in the first four weeks of being away from home.

Speaking to British newspaper The Sun Sheeran said: ''I used my UK phone over here for about a month and the bill was five grand when I got home.

''I am not going to use my UK phone anymore and my bill's only about $60 a month now, that's around £40.''

Meanwhile, Sheeran headlined a gig in Milwaukee, Wisconsin yesterday (May 10).

The hitmaker took to Twitter to gush about the show, exclaiming: " Milwaukee ! So good to do a headline gig again. You guys were LOUD !! (sic)."

Earlier in the day, Sheeran shared his excitement about the concert, writing: "Back to playing a headline show today. Milwaukee !! Cannot wait (sic)."

The British singer-songwriter featured on the country-pop star's 2012 record 'Red' in the shape of collaboration 'Everything Has Changed'.

However, the 'Lego House' man told MTV that the duo have recorded another track - which is currently on his mobile phone. He said:

"We did a lot of stuff, but I don't know whose record it will end up on. We did three songs, and recorded two, and one went on her album, which is the next single."

Sheeran added: "But we'll see what happens with the other one. There's no specific plan so far, it's just chilling on my iTunes right now, it's on my phone!'."

The 'A Team' man meanwhile is currently supporting Swift on her North American 'Red' tour.

The British star is most well-known for strumming away on the acoustic guitar in a singer-songwriter style, but it seems his next album may be more "beat" orientated.

Speaking to Billboard, Sheeran said that he has penned almost 50 songs for his second record, with many numbers exhibiting more groove than usual. He said:

"[I'm] probably about 40 tracks into the next album, and I'll pick 14 from that. I'm trying to write as many songs as possible; there are times I've been prolific and times I've not been prolific at all, but I just keep pushing. I think you just have to unclog the pipes and write as many songs as possible."

The 'A Team' man added: "It's definitely leaning towards more of a beat-heavy thing, definitely more hip-hop-like. I think I've evolved a bit more since I made the first record, which I think is a healthy thing."

Ed Sheeran's debut album meanwhile came in the shape of 2011's '+', which gave birth to tracks such as 'Drunk' and 'Lego House'.

Speaking to E! News about the north American jaunt, the 'Little Bird' hitmaker explained that he spends most of his downtime with Swift and they get along really well so their relationship has made the run of dates very enjoyable:

"I go there, hang out with Taylor, I play a show, do my duet with her, then I hang out a bit more and then I go. So, really, it's a nice tour. Six months is a long time to go on tour and leave your family and friends and if you haven't got a friend on the road it can get quite lonely."

Sheeran also recently told Parade.com that performing to arenas full of people each night is nothing short of a dream come true: "I'm loving the 'Red Tour'. It's fun. Singer/songwriters always say they prefer smaller venues, but there's nothing like playing to 15,000 people a night and having them scream lyrics that you've written back to you."

The boyband only released their last record 'Take Me Home' in November but the 'A Team' star told MTV that the lads have finished their next effort.

Sheeran said that unlike previously, he hasn't contributed any songs to One Direction's forthcoming campaign - because he wants to pen more songs for himself. He said:

"I haven't done any songs on this one; I've actually kind of cut myself from giving any people songs at the moment, because I want to make my album. I was approached, and it wasn't so much a 'No', it was just a 'I want to write tunes for myself at the moment'."

The singer-songwriter added: "Once my album's done, then we'll see. But their album is already finished."

However, a spokesperson from label Columbia denied that the next One Direction record was complete, saying that "the guys are still very much working on their new album".

The rep also dismissed the idea that there will be a soundtrack released alongside the band's upcoming movie This Is Us.

The competition pulled in an incredible 40 million votes for 64 bands over 26 days, and saw Sheeran go head-to-head with 30 Seconds To Mars for the title, which he won by more than 63 percent.

Writing on his official Twitter page today (May 2), the 'Lego House' hitmaker explained that he was sent the prize and seemed particularly entertained by it as he shared a photograph (shown below) of the statue, which he also described as a "wedge":

"Just got given my MTV march madness trophy. It's wedge. Thank you to everyone that voted and @mtvnews for the imaginative trophy."

Sheeran's currently touring America with Taylor Swift and his next concert with the country-pop beauty will be on May 4 in Detroit.

The singer-songwriter is currently working on material to follow up his 2011 debut album '+', which spawned such hits as 'Lego House' and 'The A Team'.

It seems he has been taking inspiration from some cult US TV shows, tweeting:

"Sampling buffy the vampire slayer in a song. Of course we are."

Sheeran previously said on Twitter that he had been busy working on unfinished songs, revealing:

"Cleaning out the metaphorical closet of song ideas today. Everything that is half written gets finished today."

Ed Sheeran meanwhile is currently on tour in North America as he supports Taylor Swift on her mammoth 'Red' tour.

Michael has been cleaning windows during the day and working at a bar at night to pay rent at his bedsit since his last contract with Atlantic record label fell through six months ago.

He admitted seeing former contemporaries — including Ed Sheeran — go on to achieve global fame made him depressed.

Michael said: “I let my guard down when I was signed to Atlantic. I expected everyone to do the work for me.

“But it doesn’t work that way. Ed Sheeran is a good example. He signed to Atlantic the same time as me and we even performed together. He built himself from the ground up, gigging all over the UK, making videos. My band didn’t do anything like that. Now I’ll be working in a bar and his songs come on. If I say I know him, people just say: ‘Whatever.'”

Michael added: “The Voice is my last chance. Last year I was eating lobster and drinking champagne, flying to LA for work. Then I was dropped and I was washing windows for a living. It was a shock and I got very depressed.”

Michael first began his shot at fame with his band Domino Go!, who were first signed in 2005 to Sony BMG. The deal collapsed two years later after the label tried to change their sound from pop to reggae.

Their second deal was with Atlantic in 2009, failed last year and Karl decided to go it alone.

He said: “I left Domino Go! and got two jobs, one behind a bar and another washing windows.

“I’ve been living in a horrible bedsit for nine months. It’s a box room with a sink and a mini-oven. I wouldn’t invite a girl there.”

Viewers of The Voice last night saw Sir Tom Jones, Danny O’Donoghue, Jessie J and will.i.am all turn their chairs for Karl, who sang Annie Lennox’s 'No More I Love You’s'.

In the end, he decided to join The Script coach Danny’s team and said: “I’m determined to give it my all.”

The 'Small Bump' sensation, who is currently in the U.S. supporting Taylor Swift on her extensive 'Red' tour, posted a photograph to his official Instagram account, which shows him posing with Bill Clinton. The shot is accompanied by the impressive caption: "Surreal day playing poker."

Last week, meanwhile, Sheeran unveiled an amazing stop-motion real Lego version of his song by the same name and since its release on April 11 it has almost reached 900,000 hits on YouTube.

His next American tour date will take place on April 18 in Atlanta at the Phillips Arena and Swift recently shared a picture of herself sat next to Sheeran on a theme park ride (shown below) during some rare down time.

His new video for 'Lego House' debuted earlier today and is shown on a split screen with the original video playing alongside it so that fans can see how precise the replication really is.

Writing about the exciting project on his official Twitter page earlier this week, Sheeran explained that he was really excited to share it with everyone:

"This week is all about the Lego version of the Lego house video. Seriously, it's so awesome."

Today (April 11), he returned to the social networking site and wrote: "Well here it is. The Lego stop motion version of the Lego House video!"

The singer-songwriter has often been linked to looking like the British royal due to his flame coloured hair.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Sheeran joked that people will know they are not the same person when they next see Prince Harry naked without any tattoos. He said:

"This is why I got so many tattoos. So when he is seen naked again, people know it's definitely not me."

The 'Lego House' man continued: "I bumped into Harry and took a picture on my phone with him and he said: 'This better not end up in any papers mate'."

The singer-songwriter was treated to a listen of the Canadian's works in progress and it seems to have made an impact on him.

Bieber said to the 'A Team' man on Twitter that he hoped the musician liked the new tunes, to which Sheeran replied:

"Very cool direction you're taking the new stuff."

As previously reported, Ed Sheeran has revealed some of the antics he gets up to with the lads from One Direction.

However, it's not always rock n' roll, with the 'Lego House' man once playing board games with Niall Horan and watching a romantic comedy with Harry Styles.

The singer-songwriter has become good friends with the boyband after writing material for the group, most notably with Harry Styles.

The Daily Star quotes the 'A Team' man as saying, however, that time spent with the One Direction lads isn't always the most rock n' roll.

He said that he has played board games with Niall Horan, whilst he was also made to watch a romantic film with Styles. Sheeran said:

"Whenever I hang out with them, they are very relaxed. A couple came to stay at my house over Christmas. When Niall was there we played Monopoly and when Harry was there we watched One Day because he insisted on seeing it. I didn't know what it was but I was made to watch it. Harry fast-forwarded it to the end, showed me the bike bit, and said that's what happens and then we watched it."

The Grammy nominated star continued: "The last couple of times we hung out, we did the least rock n' roll things. Nobody goes around smashing TVs any more. Everyone in music, bar a couple of people, is really polite now. The reason is people have to like you to buy your record. You can't just go out there and be an idiot."
