Ellie Goulding has confessed that she didn't know she would become a singer.

The Brit has reached a new level of fame over the last year, with her single 'Burn' becoming a pop anthem.

She also has two UK No.1 albums to her name, but Goulding told Digital Spy that her career had an uncertain beginning.

The singer admitted that at one point she considered becoming an actress, adding:

"It's sort of been a rollercoaster for me, but [I've ended up] in a good place. I never knew I was going to be a singer. In the beginning it was all kind of uncertain... it took me at least a year to just play and sing at the same time, so that in itself took a lot of graft."

Goulding meanwhile performed at the We Day charity event at London's O2 Arena today (March 7), which aimed to promote to youths the significance of taking part in global issues.
