Ellie Goulding single breaks world Spotify streaming record

Ellie Goulding's new single has become the most streamed song on Spotify in its first week.

The singer recently released the track 'Love Me Like You Do' from the Fifty Shades of Grey film soundtrack.

It has now been confirmed that the chart-topping tune racked up 15,468,762 worldwide streams on Spotify in its first week on the service.

This means that the single has beaten previous record holder Mark Ronson to the title of the most listened to track on the streaming platform in its first week.

Producer Ronson achieved the record with his 2014 song 'Uptown Funk'.

Goulding wrote on Twitter today (February 19): "Lovers my song is most streamed song in a week EVER on Spotify."
