Ellie Goulding denies writing a song about Ed Sheeran

Ellie Goulding has categorically denied that her latest single is about fellow British musician Ed Sheeran.

Upon the release of ‘You On My Mind’, rumours circulated that Goulding’s track was a retort to Ed Sheeran’s smash hit ‘Don’t’.

However, in an interview with Noisey Goulding took the opportunity to explain where inspiration for ‘You On My Mind’ actually came from.

In reference to the fact that both songs in question are set in hotel rooms and concern a short term romantic relationship, Ellie commented:

“How funny! We’re the only two asses in the world who use hotels.”

She went on to reveal: “It’s just something that happened. But also, it’s a combination of something that happened to me, and something that happened to the person who I wrote it with.”

Goulding added: “I just think it’s a good song. I love performing it. I just take on this alter-ego when I perform it, because I’m not really like that. I’m really nice and sweet as you know.”
