Ellie Goulding hopes to avoid arena tours

British songstress Ellie Goulding has admitted that she much prefers performing in small venues because arenas just don't have the same atmosphere and sense of intimacy.

During an interview with BBC's Newsbeat, the 'Starry Eyed' hitmaker revealed that although she has played gigs at arenas in the past she didn't like the feeling the space gave her so wants to continue doing shows in more low-key clubs:

"Is it weird that I don't like the idea of an arena tour? If I can just get away with doing lots of smaller venues… Like Brixton Academy is my dream."

I've always wanted to play Brixton Academy and now I am and it's mental. But I don't think I want to do arenas to be honest. I've played arenas supporting other artists but it's not really for me to be honest. They're just a bit boring and a bit rubbish. Sorry arena people."

Goulding is set to begin a small UK headlining tour next month on December 7 at the Bristol Academy and she will close the short run of dates on December 12 at London's Brixton Academy.
