Ellie Goulding opens up about 'Halcyon Days' album

On August 27, Ellie Goulding will release her new reissue album, 'Halcyon Days', and explained to Rolling Stone that she added the new songs "for fun".

This new offering will include the original tracklisting of 'Halcyon', but will come with the addition of 10 new tracks. She said: "'Halcyon' tells the story of my life a couple years ago. Instead of trying to tell a story of a particular time, I did the new songs more for fun."

She also confessed that she is now more cautious about revealing the intimate details of her songs and who inspired them: "I used to say 'f**k it' and tell everyone who my songs were about, but I'm a bit more secretive now."

Goulding added that collaborating with Calvin Harris on 'I Need Your Love', which is up for 2 MTV VMAs this year, was a bold move because it was a step away from what she was used to musically:

"I absolutely didn't think the song would be so huge. I mean, every track Calvin has made has been a chart success, but before we recorded it, I thought, ‘Is this going to be the one time he doesn't make a hit?'"
