Ellie Goulding's 'Burn' set for second week at No.1

This afternoon's (August 21) midweek singles chart update has shown that Ellie Goulding's 'Burn' has managed to cling on to the top spot and could enjoy another week at No.1.

There has been a new entry at 2 today from Klangkarussell (pictured below) and Will Heard with 'Sonnentanz (The Sun Don't Shine)', although the Official Charts Company has confirmed that Goulding's track is currently outselling it by a steady 5,000 copies.

Sean Paul's 'Other Side Of Love' debuted at No.7, Naughty Boy and Emeli Sande's duet 'Lifted' has made an appearance at 8, and Lady Gaga's much talked about new offering 'Applause' has dropped 4 places to No.9.

Elsewhere in the Top 40, Matt Cardle and Melanie C's collaboration on 'Loving You' has entered at No.10, One Direction's 'Best Song Ever' is a non-mover at 12, and The Wanted's new single 'We Own The Night' has charted at 21.

Goulding expressed her excitement at the news on Twitter this afternoon by retweeting a post about her potential to spend a second week at No.1 and adding her own reaction to it: "Whaaat!"
