Emeli Sandé hopes more Scottish acts will find fame

Emeli Sandé has said she hopes her own success will help fellow Scottish acts to make the breakthrough into the big time.

The singer has won the 2012 Critics' Choice BRIT Award and is riding a wave of buzz as her debut album nears release.

Sandé, who is originally from Aberdeenshire, told the Daily Star that she hopes more people will take notice of the burgeoning Scottish music scene as a result of her own fame. She said:

"I'd love to see more Scottish acts do well. There's a cool folk scene happening in Glasgow right now and lots of great singers. They need checking out."

As previously reported, Sande revealed her initial struggle to find a record deal - and that she had more success finding her way as a songwriter.
