Scottish sensation Emeli Sandé is on track to overtake Adele with the impressive record of best-selling album of 2012, the Official Charts Company has reported.

The cut was released back in February and has shifted a phenomenal 647,000 copies to date, 200,000 of which have been digital downloads whereas Adele's '21' only sold 158,000 in the same format.

Earlier this summer, Sandé performed at both the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies and her live appearances at both had a great impact on her chart positions.

Meanwhile, Adele's '21' has been named the eighth best-selling album of all time and even overtook Michael Jackson's iconic 'Bad' record.
