Emeli Sandé wins big at MOBOs

Emeli Sandé was the star of the MOBO Awards on Saturday evening - taking home a total of three gongs.

The Scottish singer was awarded Best R&B/Soul, Best Album and Best Female Act at the popular awards gala that was held in Liverpool's Echo Arena.

Sandé - who also wowed crowds with a performance of 'My Kind Of Love' at the event - said she was "over the moon" with the gongs.

She added: "I really didn't expect to win three and getting the Album of the Year was a big thing for me, so I feel like all the hard work pays off when you get acknowledgement like that."

Sandé took to Twitter after her successful streak at the gala to let fans know she planned to celebrate in style: "BEST ALBUM!!!!! #3MOBOS!! Party time!! (sic)."

Plan B also triumphed at the event, picking up awards for Best Male Act and Best Hip Hop/Grime, while Rita Ora was presented with the Best Newcomer gong.

JLS - who had previously taken to their Twitter page to reveal their excitement ahead of the ceremony - picked up the gong for Best Video, while Labrinth and Nicki Minaj received the Best Song and Best International Act prizes respectively.

JLS thanked their fans on Twitter for their continued support.

They gushed: "To all of our fans! You are the reason we won this award tonight! Please everyone celebrate becaus this award we share wit u!Oritsé&boys x (sic)."
