Emeli Sandé named iTunes Artist of the Year

Emeli Sandé has been honoured by iTunes for her work in 2012.

The Scottish singer and songwriter has enjoyed a successful year, releasing debut album 'Our Version of Events' and performing at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Her record has been named as the top selling album on iTunes UK this year and the singer has been named as the music retailer's Artist of the Year.

Speaking about her honour, Sandé said:

"To hear that I'm iTunes' 'Artist of the Year' and that 'Our Version of Events' was the best-selling album on iTunes this year is just incredible!"

The 'Next To Me' star added: "Thank you for all your support and making this year even more special."

Gotye's YouTube smash 'Somebody That I Used To Know' meanwhile was named as the top selling song on iTunes UK this year.
