Homo-Hop Pioneer QBoy Takes a Look at LGBT's Detrimental Drug Culture

After marking his illustrious return with recent EP ‘QING’, homo-hop pioneer QBoy is using his pull as an artist to address the negative influence that hook-up apps can have in gay culture.

Over the past couple of years, the UK has witnessed a significant surge in gay and bisexual men attending drug-fuelled sex parties, which has been linked to a worrying trend of men contracting HIV. These alarming statistics garnered the attention of Vice and The Guardian, while also being explored in William Fairman and Max Gogarty’s distressing (yet vital) documentary, Chemsex.

With the rate of new HIV diagnoses among Hispanic/Latino gay men increasing by 16% between the years 2010-2014, half-Spanish QBoy is confronting a topic that is too often shamed into silence.

Wittily addressing the potentially harmful exploits of hook-up culture, his fierce new track “Show Me Your Deck” is a vibrant vision which infuses cheeky wordplay and bulge a plenty in order to encourage a discussion about a rising endemic that struggles to make its way into mainstream media.
