Fergie plans to legally change her name

Black Eyed Peas starlet Fergie is planning to legally change her name.

Fergie, whose birth name is Stacy Ann Ferguson, has filed legal papers in order to amend both her first and last names.

The American singer has officially requested to change her full name to Fergie Duhamel.

This legal action comes over four years after the ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ singer married her husband Josh Duhamel (pictured together below).

Documents filed in the L.A. County Superior Court reveal that the reason for the official name change is to "conform to the first name which she is commonly and professionally known as, and has been for many years."

If her desired name change is to be granted by the court Fergie is required to publish a notice in a local newspaper for four successive weeks.

A court hearing to find out whether Fergie’s name change request has been successful has been scheduled for August 16.
