Fifth Harmony on debut album delay: 'We had to fight for what we wanted'

Fifth Harmony say their debut album was delayed because they were trying to assert creative control over the process.

The girl group unleashed 'Reflection' in the US at the start of February after a few delays.

Speaking to news.com.au, the band - who found fame as winners of the 2012 US X Factor - said that boss Simon Cowell is keen on the quintet having control.

This meant that Fifth Harmony spent time on the record in order to win some battles.

Camila Cabello said: "Simon wants artists who are authentic. He told us this was our project and to do whatever we want. That is why the album took so long - we had to fight sometimes for what we wanted."

Speaking meanwhile about how the group have such a passionate fanbase, the singer added:

"Being positive gets you loyal fans. Gossiping and being negative gets you a lot of eyes and headlines but not consistent support."
