Fifth Harmony star talks body image: 'I needed to stop bringing myself down'

Fifth Harmony singer Dinah Jane Hansen has spoken about her struggle to come to terms with her body.

The girl group have opened to Seventeen magazine about some of their insecurities.

Hansen said that she initially did not like her body shape - but it is something she grew into appreciating.

The US star said: "Everyone knows I'm the thick girl. I used to be so sad about it, but being Polynesian, we're naturally thick-boned.

"I realised it was like I was ashamed of my culture and needed to stop bringing myself down."

Lauren Jauregui meanwhile added about being true to yourself:

"Women are often made to feel like they have to be a certain type of girl, but you can be anything you want to be."

The June/July issue of Seventeen will hit shelves on May 18.
