Fifth Harmony on their new music: 'This is a whole new era for us'

Hitmakers Fifth Harmony are gearing up to release their highly anticipated sophomore record, entitled '7/27', on May 20 and they have revealed that it showcases a more authentic side to who they really are.

During a new interview with Billboard about their forthcoming new album, the girls explained that they had more creative control this time around and really put their stamp on the music:

"Decision-making, and we had a direction on this album genre-wise. I feel like before we were still defining Fifth Harmony's sound and figuring out where we wanted to go. I feel like this one is more edgy. I describe it as a "new era" for Fifth Harmony. For us to finally release this little secret of ours is exciting."

Dinah Jane Hansen went onto confess that the new record was also influenced by the different ethnicities within the group, adding: "This album definitely shows our ethnicities. I'm an island girl, from the Pacific Islands. I'm Polynesian, a mix of everything, Tongan, Samoan, Danish. Everyone always thought of me as being African-American or Latin, and I love that, but I'm glad I can bring a little island to this album. With the new music, we were giving it a little reggae vibe with the beats -- that represented me. And we all love it."
