Fifth Harmony album release and upcoming VMAs

This week is a huge deal for Fifth Harmony as they gear up for two major events.

Firstly, the most famous American girl group in the world - consisting of Normani KordeiDinah JaneAlly Brooke and Lauren Jauregui - are set to release their third studio album tomorrow (August 25). Secondly, the girls, who are one of the nominees for the Song of Summer award for their track “Down” featuring Gucci Mane, are also set to perform live at this weekend's MTV Video Music Awards 2017.

Voting for Song of Summer opens today (August 24) at 1pm (ET), and will run for 36 hours in a Snapchat Our Story that will celebrate all the nominees. The winner will be revealed during the live VMA pre-show.

The MTV VMAs are due to take place at The Forum in Los Angeles on Sunday (August 27). The night will also include performances from Demi Lovato, Abel, Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, Lorde, Shawn Mendes and 30 Seconds to Mars.

Kendrick Lamar leads this year's nominees with eight nods, followed by The Weeknd and Katy Perry, who each have five.

The 2017 MTV VMAs will air this Sunday (August 27) at 8pm (ET/PT).
