Foo Fighters: 'Our new music is unlike anything we've done before'

Rockers Foo Fighters have revealed that the new material they've been working on will come as a complete surprise to everyone who is familiar with their sound.

Frontman Dave Grohl confessed to BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe that while there's no release date in mind as of yet, they are actively recording new music and can't wait to debut it to their followers:

"We haven't really disclosed exactly what we are doing."

"I know what it sounds like and I honestly think the entire concept is really going to take people by surprise and it sounds nuts."

Grohl then added that fans will be shocked by their new direction: "We recorded something the other day that's unlike anything we've ever done and it starts with a fuse and then it explodes."

Last year, Grohl told Billboard that he had "a crazy idea of what I want to do with the next record and how we record it. It's not conventional. It won't be a conventional record." Member Chris Shiflett added: "I can't go into too much detail, but... I'm excited about it. Dave [Grohl]'s got a bunch of new songs and the way that we're gonna make the new record - like, the approach for it - is gonna be pretty f***ing fun. And different."
