Foo Fighters fans raise over £150,000 for latest UK crowd-funded gig attempt

Foo Fighters fans have raised over £150,000 ($243,000) in an attempt to get the band to play in Cornwall.

The crowd-funded campaign was launched recently after the US group played a similar show in Richmond, Virginia after a successful fan campaign.

It also followed an attempt by fans in Birmingham to raise money for the band to play in the city, with that campaign raising over £150,000.

The Cornwall project asked fans to pledge £50 ($81) towards a ticket.

The campaign stated online: "We do not know the date or venue for this gig at this stage. The Foo Fighters' management are aware of this campaign and if (when!) it is successful we will begin negotiations for a date in their schedule.

"We will aim for a date on the 2015 tour but we will also consider 2016 as we think this would be worth waiting for. If we are unable to secure a date in 2015 or 2016 by February 28, 2015 your pledges will not be collected."

Foo Fighters meanwhile will release their new album 'Sonic Highways' on November 10.
