Foo Fighters raise over $1m from charity gigs

U.S rockers Foo Fighters have raised in excess of $1 million from the gigs they put on to help victims of the Australian floods and New Zealand earthquakes.

The band were recently praised by Australian politician Anna Bligh for their charitable efforts and now the concerts' promoters, Frontier Touring Company, confirmed the 'Rope' stars have contribued over one million dollars from ticket sales.

The show in New Zealand raised NZ$ 354,903 ($284,000) for the New Zealand Government Christchurch Earthquake Appeal and the Australian gig generated A$770,717 ($837,00), which they donated to Queensland Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal.
