Afrikan Boy is the Godfather of Afro-Grime

African Boy is back with 'Wot It Do'

AFRIKAN BOY aka Captain Afrika, the godfather of Afro-Grime at the prime age of 28, is back with a new track ‘Wot It Do’ that is bound to get the dance halls grooving.

On his continual rise in the UK music scene, this fusion MC / rap artist Afrikan Boy, drops a fun, energetic electro beat over bass-heavy sounds of urban London and his signature rhythmic delivery of which he was ridiculed for years ago and has now become an accepted crossover recipe for new wave of Afro artist such as J Hus etc.

Afrikan Boy added: "'Wot It Do' came about when I met Jan and Dave, a production duo from Bolabo Records, where we linked to collaborate on a few tracks. 'Wot It Do' was the first track we made together."

"This track has a heavy bottom end and an undeniable dance vibe to it. The lyrics took inspiration from my recent travels abroad and meeting new people, to memories of my youth from old school songs my mum used to sing to us in Yoruba. The heart of this track is all about the hook which is an instant call and response between me and the listener/audience."
