Heg & The Wolf Chorus’ Dark Journey On Tour With Moulettes and Arthur BrownSingle ‘Giant’ Release In Advance Of UK Tour
Heg & The Wolf Chorus draw from the depths of tradition to tell dark stories with their other-worldly breed of folk music on new release ‘Giant’ - a follow up to 2013’s acclaimed ‘Boat and I’. Blending folk, dramatic pop, dynamic violin, ghostly drums, flamboyant piano and rich vocal harmonies with lavish arrangements, the band seek to create drama and atmosphere in their theatrical sound. Fairy tales provide inspiration for songwriter Heg, who also takes from the twisted roots of her own family tree to lead a journey through Grimm’s fantastical forests and across the stormy Atlantic, to the dangerous coalmines of Illinois – and even further beyond.
Hailing from Bristol, via Darlington College of Arts and a hippy-commune existence, the band have previously supported BBC Sound of 2013 winners HAIM, performed live at Bristol’s Colston Hall for a BBC documentary on home recording, and were selected for Glastonbury Festival's Emerging Talent long-list by Helen True from For Folks Sake. The BBC are firm supporters of this exciting group, with regular interviews and airplay via BBC Introducing.
The new release will see them continue on this ever expanding journey, with support spots booked with epic contemporaries Moulettes and the legendary The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown included in their upcoming show schedule, as well as a showcase performance at Brighton’s renowned The Great Escape Festival. Heg had this to say:
“It’s so inspiring to be playing with Moulettes – given their following in the folk world and the influence they have had on us. The Jazz Cafe show with Arthur Brown is so exciting too – the man is a legend! Along with the release, I almost can’t fathom the whirlwind we are in right now”
‘Giant’ is released on Monday 5th May. Check out the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF9uKRR9rr0&list=UUfOZHs9Q42vJgCgv4CawdNg
