Broadcaster and actor Cel Spellman to host The Voice UK V Room

 

The Voice UK today announces Cel Spellman as the host of The V Room, the programme’s official switchover show exclusively produced for The Voice UK and The Voice Kids’ digital platforms. 

Broadcaster and actor Cel, who hosts BBC Radio 1’s Sunday afternoon show and has also recently been seen in ITV drama Cold Feet as Matthew Williams, will begin hosting duties when The Voice UK starts recording its blind auditions in Manchester next week. The V Room will bring fans all the best from backstage, as Cel interviews the all star coaching panel, consisting of will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson, Tom Jones and Gavin Rossdale, show presenter Emma Willis, and this year’s hopefuls throughout all stages of the competition.

The V Room will feature on demand across the ITV Hub and feature exclusive content on social across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and The Voice App.

Cel Spellman Cel is the host of Radio 1’s Sunday afternoon show and is presenter of CBBC’s Official Chart Show, as well as being a regular face of CBBC Presentation. 2016 has seen Cel appear in the much anticipated and hugely successful return of the cult ITV show, 'Cold Feet' playing Matthew Williams, the son of Adam (James Nesbitt). 

Cel first appeared on our TV screens in 2003 when he starred as Tom Lewis in the ITV1 crime drama 'Blue Murder’. His next main role came in the form of Malky McConnell in 'The Cup' (BBC1) before he moved on to series 6&7 of 'Waterloo Road' (BBC1), with series 6 winning the Best Drama Award at the National Television Awards in 2011.  Cel has also worked on ITV1’s drama ‘Homefront' and in 2014 starred in Channel 4’s controversial drama ‘Cucumber' by Russell T Davies. 

Cel started his career by gaining The Stage Scholarship to attend Sylvia Young Theatre School. His first acting job was in 2003 playing Chip in Disney’s 'Beauty and the Beast' at the Palace Theatre in Manchester. He went on to appear in productions 'Wizard of Oz', 'Chitty Chitty Bang', 'Oliver Twist' and 'Dido Queen of Carthage' at the National Theatre. 

Cel has appeared in several radio plays including 'Walter Now' with Sir Ian McKellen, Jack Rosenthal’s 'Last Act and Lost Property' which won the Best Audio Drama Award in 2012 and most recently Radio 4’s drama series, ‘Stone'.  

Having grown up as part of the CBBC family, Cel is often seen as one of the faces of CBBC Presentation and was part of the BAFTA award- winning 'Friday Download' presenting line-up. In 2013 Cel was chosen to be one of three judges alongside Eamonn Holmes and Myleene Klass on ‘Blue Peter- You Decide!' Other television credits include ‘Casualty', 'Holby City', 'Coronation Street’, 'This is Jinsy' and CBBC’s 'All Over The Place’. 

In 2014 Cel put his skills to the test standing in for 'The Dan & Phil Show' on Radio 1 which has led to his very own weekly Radio 1 Sunday show from July 2015.
