Benidorm celebrates 10 years on ITV

BENIDORM: TEN YEARS ON HOLIDAY

ITV will be showing a brand new Benidorm documentary this February celebrating 10 years of the award winning comedy on the channel.

First screened in 2007 in a 30-minute format, the show has grown to be hugely popular with ITV viewers and has been BAFTA nominated and won numerous TV awards over the years including two National TV Awards.

The show’s creator and writer Derren Litten will guide viewers around Benidorm to reveal all about how the show was created whilst visiting the show’s many real life locations.  Cast (past and present) will talk about their roles on the show alongside show bloopers and exclusive behind the scenes footage of the upcoming 10th series being filmed.

All the Garvey family return for the one off special – Steve Pemberton, Siobhan Finneran, Sheila Reid, Ollie Stokes and Hannah Hobley talk about their time on the show.

BENIDORM: 10th SERIES

The 10th series of Benidorm will see legendary comedy duo Hale & Pace join the show as undercover detectives (Dennis and Nigel) investigating Tim Healy’s character Les/Lesley, who returns to the series full time.

Shane Richie is back for four episodes reprising his role as lively entertainer Sammy Valentino and John Challis becomes a series regular with his character Monty Staines.

The Dawsons (Julie Graham, Steve Edge, Kate Fitzgerald, Bobby Knutt and Josh Bolt) all return with Billy and Sheron celebrating their silver wedding anniversary.

Newcomers to the series include Laila Zaidi who plays Cyd, the new girlfriend of Rob Dawson and Julian Moore-Cook who plays Joey’s mate Callum.

Joyce Temple Savage (Sherrie Hewson), Mateo (Jake Canuso), Noreen (Elsie Kelly), Pauline (Selina Griffiths), Liam (Adam Gillen), Kenneth (Tony Maudsley), Sam (Shelley Longworth), Joey (Nathan Bryon) and Jacqueline (Janine Duvitski) all return.

Noreen (Elsie Kelly) and Pauline (Selina Griffiths) are enjoying another holiday in Benidorm with Pauline back on the wagon and hoping to revive her fledging career as a novelist.  Things soon flare up with the arrival of Noreen’s twin sister Doreen (played by Elsie Kelly in a dual role) and her very familiar new boyfriend!

Guest stars in series 10 include The Chuckle Brothers, Nigel Havers, Mark Heap, Bobby Ball, Claire Sweeney, Layton Williams, Carol Decker, Tony Hadley and Holly Johnson.

The show’s creator Derren Litten penned episodes 1-3 and 8-9 of the new series and Mark Brotherhood (Shameless, Mount Pleasant) wrote 4-7.

Benidorm has been commissioned for ITV by Saskia Schuster, ITV’s Controller of Comedy.

Show creator, writer and exec producer Derren Litten says "When I wrote the first script of Benidorm I had no idea it would change my life so dramatically over the next 10 years.  I am so grateful to our fans and to ITV for giving Benidorm the best possible home we could hope for.  Here's to the next 10 years!”

Paul Jackson and Derren Litten served as executive producers.  David Sant directed episodes 1-5, Duncan Foster directed 6-7 and Derren Litten directed 8-9.
