Iggy Azalea on Lorde's Nirvana tribute: 'It wasn't appropriate, she isn't Kurt Cobain's peer'

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has revealed that she believes Lorde's recent performance with Nirvana, which was in tribute to the late Kurt Cobain at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, was in bad taste.

During a new interview with Billboard, the 'Fancy' hitmaker explained that a tribute to someone should really be done by someone who knows that person and Lorde had no actual connection to the band or to Cobain himself, which left her feeling it was 'inappropriate':

"Nothing against her, but I think when you're doing a tribute to someone that's dead, generally it should be the person's peer. Lorde is not Kurt Cobain's peer. No matter if she killed the performance or not, I just don't think it's appropriate."

Following her performance with Nirvana, Lorde shared a tweet with her followers that read: "So honoured and happy i got to help celebrate nirvana's rock and roll hall of fame induction tonight. True f*cking rock stars, all, forever. And man, joan, annie and kim give a healthy display of Coolest Women You Will Ever Meet Behaviour."
