'Weird Al' Yankovic flew to Iggy Azalea show to ask permission for 'Fancy' cover

'Weird Al' Yankovic has revealed that he tracked down Iggy Azalea in order to get her permission to cover one of her songs.

The legendary parody musician put his own spin on the rapper's hit track 'Fancy' on his recently released 'Mandatory Fun' album with the tune 'Handy'.

The record hit No.1 in the US and he told the Herald Sun that despite his fame, Azalea's camp hadn't returned his calls about covering 'Fancy'.

Yankovic then took things into his own hands by flying out to one of her shows to meet her backstage.

He said: "I decided to fly down to Denver to see if I could 'bump' into her, talk to her and get her permission on the spot. As soon as she got offstage, I introduced myself, told her what I wanted to do and she said it all sounded fine. I didn't really preface my conversation with who I am but she was certainly very nice and friendly. Although she did have the deer in the headlights look at first."
