(June 26, 2013 — New York, NY) A newer, rockier band of Brits are hitting American shores for the first time. This British invasion are known as the UK chart-topping group:  Lawson. Fresh off the back of a string of sold out UK tours of their own and having opened up for the likes of Jessie J, Avril Lavigne and Bruce Springsteen , Lawson will be doing a US tour come August; the tour begins on  August 22 with a return to New York. In January the band performed a sold out show at the iconic Bowery Ballroom.

Now proudly bearing the Island Def Jam banner, Lawson are proof that both hard work and persistence pays off having worked from the bottom up in their native homeland, forming 5 years ago after a chance encounter between drummer Adam Pitts and lead singer Andy Brown via Myspace. Guitarist Joel Peat and bass player Ryan Fletcher complete the line up.

Citing US bands such as Kings Of Leon and Maroon 5 as influences, Lawson are now poised to bring their meaningful guitar led pop rock anthems to the US.

The band’s first single, “When She Was Mine,” was released on May 27, 2012; the song took merely a week to scale the heights of YouTube viewership and reached #4 on the UK Singles Chart. Two more UK top 10 singles would follow in “Taking Over Me” and “Standing in the Dark”—Taylor Swift’s self-proclaimed favorite Lawson song.

The pop rock hit  “Learn to Love Again,” is now available to US markets on iTunes and other digital outlets. Given the success of the song’s accompanying video, Lawson is currently featured on VEVO as anEmerging Artist to Watch. All this groundswell propelled the band’s debut album Chapman Square to the top 5 the UK’s Albums chart, being certified Gold in under 5 months.

North American fans were given a taster of Lawson live when the band performed 3 sold out shows at the top of the year in New York, LA and Toronto & now audiences will have their chance to take in the boys up close, as they bring some late summer heat to major cities.
