Jack White denies wanting to produce new Libertines album

Jack White has poured cold water on the suggestion that he wants to produce the next Libertines record.

The UK indie rockers reformed earlier this year to play at London's Hyde Park in July.

A follow-up to the band's 2004 second album 'The Libertines' is in the pipeline and Pete Doherty told French TV station D8 that US star White had expressed his interest in producing the record.

He said: "Jack White says he'd like to do it. I'd love him to do it, it would be amazing, but I don't want to get too hopeful."

However, a rep for the White Stripes man told NME that the musician has never "expressed an interest in working with the Libertines".

They added to Consequence of Sound that White is "not interested in producing the Libertines’ new album".

White meanwhile released his latest solo record 'Lazaretto' earlier this year.
