James Arthur has clarified quotes recently attributed to the singer about Harry Styles' tattoos.

The One Direction man is plastered with body art, including a collection of images on his left arm. X Factor 2012 winner Arthur was quoted in the Daily Mail recently saying that he thinks Styles will grow to regret his ink.

He reportedly said: "Look at Harry [Styles] – he’s made some terrible tattoo decisions and I bet he’ll regret them. I’d say to all kids, don’t have a tattoo until you’re 21."

The Daily Mail says Arthur added: "I’ve got one behind my ear with my own initials on – that’s so embarrassing – and I have one on my face that I have to put foundation over. I have the words 'love' and 'life' on my knuckles and I would half like those removed. But I’m really scared about getting them lasered. I know it’s going to hurt."

Arthur has since taken to Twitter to clarify his 'comments', saying:

"There is a @MailOnline article thats quoted me as saying Harry styles has made bad tattoo choices..I would never say that... Mine are worse. I said kids should think long and hard before getting tattoos because you don't want to regret them later on, and I said it on Twitter."
