James Arthur has confirmed that his friendship with Louis Tomlinson has ended.

The One Direction singer showed his support for the 'Impossible' star during the 2012 X Factor, which Arthur ultimately won.

However, the 25-year-old seemingly irked the boyband singer recently by suggesting on Twitter that One Direction were a massive marketing force, with Tomlinson apparently "insulting" Arthur via text messages as a result.

Speaking to ITV, Arthur has now confirmed that he and Tomlinson are over. The singer said:

"Louis Tomlinson supported me when I was on the X Factor and I have a lot of respect for that. But, I had an opinion this year and it was taken the wrong way. We had words and now we're not friends."

Speaking sarcastically meanwhile about the One Direction singer, the X Factor winner quipped:

"I have posters all over my walls of Louis Tomlinson. He's my favourite member. I often just listen to their tracks to hear his vocals."

Arthur added that contrary to popular belief, he has nothing against One Direction fans.
