Jay Z brought out a surprise guest to join him for his headlining performance at yesterday’s Global Citizen Festival (September 27).

Towards the end of the New York rapper’s set he was joined by his wife Beyoncé for a couple of songs.

Beyoncé filled in for Justin Timberlake on ‘Holy Grail’ and also provided vocals for ‘Forever Young’.

Prior to Beyoncé’s arrival, Jay Z played many of his biggest hits including ’99 Problems’, ‘N—as in Paris’ and ‘Empire State Of Mind’.

Other highlights from the third annual Global Citizen Festival, which was held in New York’s Central Park, included No Doubt playing a greatest hits set and being joined by Sting for a cover of ‘Message In A Bottle’, as well as sets from the likes of Carrie Underwood and Alicia Keys.

The Global Citizen Festival aims to raise awareness and encourage action towards eradicating extreme poverty by 2030.
