Jay-Z: 'My father abandoning me as a child inspired my new record'

Hip hop superstar Jay-Z has admitted his forthcoming new album was partly inspired by his father abandoning him when he was a child.

'Magna Carta Holy Grail', which will be released to the general public on July 7, is the hitmaker's new offering and he explained that the song 'Jay-Z Blue' is particularly personal because of the themes it explores:

"It deals with my pop leaving when I was young. He didn't teach me how to be a man nor how to raise a child, or treat a woman."

"And I have a daughter. It's the paranoia of not being a great dad," he added.

Jay-Z's record is also set to feature a new collaboration with 'Suit & Tie' hitmaker Justin Timberlake along with his own wife, Beyoncé.
