John Mayer to host US chat show

John Mayer will host US TV's The Late Late Show for three nights next year.

The singer-songwriter will fill-in on the show between host Craig Ferguson leaving and James Corden replacing him in March.

Mayer will host for three nights in the lead-up to the Grammy Awards, which is being held on February 14.

He wrote on Twitter: "I'll be guest hosting the Late Late Show on CBS for 3 nights during the week leading up to the Grammys in February.

"Three days might not seem like a long time, but it's exactly as long as it takes to mail a letter to CBS saying 'please make this stop'."

Other stars due to guest host between December and March include Drew Carey and Judd Apatow.
