Kate Bush makes rare public appearance to receive CBE

Singer Kate Bush has added a CBE to her long list of accolades after a ceremony at Windsor Castle today saw her honoured by the Queen.

Although Bush didn’t stop to speak to journalists, she released a statement announcing her intentions to put the medal “on top of the Christmas tree.”

Despite boasting a 40-year career, the ‘Wuthering Heights’ singer is very private and rarely grants interviews or makes public appearances. She has only toured once in her whole career, back in 1979.

The singer adds the CBE to her collection of other honours including both Brit and Ivor Novello awards.

Bush also said in her statement: "I feel incredibly thrilled to receive this honour which I share with my family, friends and fellow musicians and everybody who has been such an important part of it all.”
