The 33-year-old, whose band’s material is usually penned by keyboardist Tim Rice-Oxley, told the Daily Star that he’s recently been writing songs of his own:

“When I release my songs it will be as a solo project. In Keane we know what we do best and what our roles are, so it’d make sense for me to put my songs out separately to the band.” 

The ‘Everybody’s Changing’ singer, who also confirmed that Keane have no intention of splitting, went on to reveal that his new tracks are similar to the group’s debut, ‘Hopes and Fears:’

“Lyrically, they’re very direct, as Tim’s are. They’re probably too explicit, as they document what’s been going on inside my head for the past seven years.”
