Lights releases stunning new album 'Midnight Machines'

Canadian electro-pop sensation Lights has now released her highly anticipated new album, ‘Midnight Machines’.

The record is an acoustic repackaging of her fantastic 2014 offering ‘Little Machines’ and it was released today (April 8) on Warner Bros. Records. Speaking about ‘Midnight Machines’ recently, Lights explained that it could be described as a ‘reinvention’ of her last album:

"Midnight Machines is more than just an acoustic record, it's a complete reinvention of some of the songs fromLittle Machines. I worked with a string section and my band to create this ultra vibey, late night version. Making the video for Meteorites was almost as interesting to work on because I had to learn the song backwards and sped up to create the slow surreality of the shots."

The ‘Up We Go’ hitmaker recently returned to London where she performed a two-night residency at the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen. Pressparty was there for the second-night gig on March 16 and Lights put on a fantastic show thanks to her flawless vocals and limitless energy. She ran through a total of 15 songs, which spanned her entire career to date and treated the audience to an acoustic rendition of ‘Meteorites’, which features on ‘Midnight Machines’. From her 2009 album ‘The Listening’, she performed ‘Drive My Soul’ and ‘The Last Thing On Your Mind’, which were met by rousing applause.

Lights also stopped to interact with the crowd, pouring out shots of boxed wine. She played through five songs from her 2012 record ‘Siberia’ and fleshed out the rest of the setlist with tracks from her most recent release, including ‘Little Machines’ bonus track ‘From All Sides’.
