‘Heroine (My Love Is Alive)’ is the brand new single and love song from Mike Peters and The Alarm.

A brave outpouring of emotion – ‘Heroine’ was inspired by a woman’s ordeal and will to survive in the face of a shocking discovery, as revealed in the recent and nationally broadcast BBC television programme – ‘Mike and Jules: While We Still Have Time’ here.

Alarm frontman Mike Peters and his wife Jules have an amazing bond made strong through the fact that both of them have cancer and throughout ‘Heroine’ Mike pours his heart out in song like never before.

"I was inspired to write 'Heroine' after seeing the woman who has loved, stood by and cared for me through 21 years of living with cancer, face up to the shock and reality of having to accept a breast cancer diagnosis of her own. Throughout her journey to recovery, I was continually moved by what I can only describe as true heroism, especially in the way she retained her zest for life, and to remain constantly dignified at all times as both a woman and mother, despite the often savage ordeal of the experience." – Mike Peters

Mike Peters is a 21 year cancer survivor (Leukaemia), who thought he was the one destined to carry the burden of long term illness for his family (one in three are commonly affected by the disease), only to learn that his wife of 29 years – Jules, was also affected in 2016.

The couple allowed their story to be told by the BBC and the subsequent programme has been broadcast across the network. The reaction from women and men both moved and affected by their story, in particular Jules breast cancer experience, has been phenomenal.

Family friend and U2 frontman Bono, was moved to describe Jules as a ‘Jewel’, saying – ‘We need more people like this; they have so much to contribute’.

The couple are the driving force behind the ‘Love Hope Strength’ foundation which is dedicated to saving lives at rock concerts and festivals in the UK and the USA, registering over 150,000 people to the international bone marrow registry and locating over 3,500 potentially life saving matches in the process.

There is also The Alarm – a band that has survived a musical journey all of its own and continues to thrive in modern times. Recent invitations to perform at Glastonbury and Isle of Wight festivals have seen the band continue to move forward on all fronts with a massive 45 date headline summer tour of the USA alongside appearances as part of the Vans Warped Tour broadening their musical horizon.

A feature length film – Man In The Camo Jacket – that tells the remarkable Mike Peters / Alarm / Love Hope Strength story was premiered at the prestigious Grammy Museum in Los Angeles on August 3rd and is due for release in Europe this Autumn to coincide with a 14 date Alarm UK Tour throughout October that will see the group performing songs like ‘Heroine’ and others that will eventually form part of an album that is currently being completed for release in 2018.
