Perrie Edwards: 'If Zayn wanted to stay in One Direction, I would have supported him'

Perrie Edwards has insisted that she had no sway in Zayn Malik leaving One Direction.

The Little Mix star's fiance quit the group in March in order to live a more normal life.

Accusations surfaced that Edwards may have influenced his decision, with some comparisons to Yoko Ono - who reportedly caused friction in the Beatles after marrying John Lennon - levelled against her.

Speaking to The Sun, the Little Mix lady said that she would have backed Malik no matter what he wanted to do.

Edwards said: "People have said did I do this, did I do that? No matter what decision he made, I was always going to support him. If he'd wanted to stay, I would have supported him just the same as I have done since he's left...if he's happy then I'm happy.

"He's really good. Hopefully everyone understands that it was one of the hardest decisions he's ever made in his life."
