Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has confirmed that ex-fiancé Zayn Malik broke up with her via text message.

The couple split in 2015 after spending a number of years together.

Writing in Little Mix's upcoming new book Our World, Edwards said she was bitterly disappointed by the manner of their break-up.

She said: "'It was horrible, the worst time in my life. A four-year relationship, two year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that.

"Even though things in my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me."

Little Mix meanwhile will release Our World on October 20.
