Lorde wants her songs to stop being played on the radio

Lorde believes her tunes should be taken off the radio in order to give the public some "breathing space".

The singer shot to worldwide fame last year and her breakthrough track 'Royals' became a smash hit.

However, it seems the 17-year-old New Zealander is keen for the song - and any other tracks of hers - to be banished from the radio.

This is so that she can give her fans and the audience a break before launching into something new.

She told V Magazine: "I want to let people stop hearing Lorde on the radio all the time, because it’s kind of crazy at the moment. I’d like to give people a little bit of breathing room before I unleash something different.”

As previously reportedLorde said the same interview that comparisons between herself and Nirvana - in terms of being the 'voice of a generation' - are wrong. She said:

"Oh, come on! I’m sure so many people will read that and be like, ‘F**k off!’."
