Lorde has spoken of her surprise and shock at performing in front of 40,000 people.

The singer took to the stage at Brazil's Lollapalooza on Saturday (April 5) in front of tens of thousands of gig-goers.

It seems to have taken its toll on the 17-year-old New Zealander, who tweeted on Sunday (April 6):

"Today i found out that i played to forty thousand people at lolla last night. what EVEN."

It appears Lorde had a vast number of fans in Brazil wanting her to visit the country, with the singer previously saying on Twitter:

"Ps. after what feels like an eternity of people willing me to come to brazil.. IT HAPPENED! I'M IN BRAZIL BEEEJEZ."
