Lorde performs with Nirvana at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Lorde got a chance to sing with rock royalty last night (April 10) in the shape of Nirvana.

The singer was one of four female vocalists to front the grunge icons during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

Lorde ran through the 1993 track 'All Apologies', whilst Joan Jett helped out on the seminal 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'.

St. Vincent joined in on 'Aneurysm' whilst Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon teamed up with Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear on 'Lithium'.

Lorde said after her set on Twitter: "So honoured and happy i got to help celebrate nirvana's rock and roll hall of fame induction tonight. true f*cking rock stars, all, forever. And man, joan, annie and kim give a healthy display of Coolest Women You Will Ever Meet Behaviour."

The late Kurt Cobain's wife Courtney Love settled her differences with the likes of Grohl by hugging the band and her husband's family on stage during the group's acceptance speech.

Drummer Grohl added: "Kurt was an intense artist, and he really connected to a lot of people."

The 'Nevermind' group were inducted by R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe.

Other acts that were entered into the Hall of Fame were KISS, Peter Gabriel, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Stevens and Hall and Oates.
